Trail Jelajah Meru

Distance : 37.58km

I've arrived at the location, Padang Awam Meru 4 at 8 am. I knew the tentative said ride will start at 8, but I'm very sure it would be delay if not late. So what so ever it will start l(8)ate. As expected they didn't take off yet, waiting for police traffics who will escort along the ride.

No harm, I got time to resemble my bike. It just to attach front wheel and the seat. Brakes check, shifters check, derailleurs check. Tyre pressure check and absorber pressure check. Put on gloves and helmet, everything is green to go and I'm ready. Join the crowd and I took the last place to start.

35km in one shot, I've to be clear, focus and at full capability. This event is not a competition, so the motto today 'To complete not to compete'. But in other way or some, this is a competition between me, myself, i and the bike. Good luck!

Take off at 0830hrs. From Persiaran Hamzah Alang we turn into Jalan Nenas, the Malay village. The trail is flat jalan tar kampung, served with typical kampung view. Couples right and left have took me to Jalan Dusun and to the first and second climbs which is mark easy. Jalan Dusun had took us to main road of Jalan Meru Tambahan.

Get back into the village on Jalan Iskandar. This is Felcra area and settlement if I'm not mistaken. Turn right in front of Masjid at-Taqwa to Jalan Haji Abdul Latiff, skipped Jalan Abdul Wahab. I took my first 10km break at Jalan Setia Jaya. Refuel my body, check my porch. Average speed so far 25km/h and I'm far behind.

The trail ahead back to Jalan Meru Tambahan had served me with 3 climbs. Easy and moderate at Jalan Batu, Jalan Kempas and Jalan Seri Jaya. And i'm still on my bike, riding it yeah.

The easy climb is over, now here is the Dragon Back almost 45 degree vertical climb for 500 meters. This is real deal, in front of me they are riders who are surrender and gave up. They are side by side push up the bike to the peak. I'm almost KO but still OK. The brain tell the body to push the pedal, little by little. The air intake full up both lung with oxygen and inhale consistently to keep the momentum.

I'm move up and get to the peak in one shot to the assembly point 1. Took this chance to restore and reload for 5 minutes. Distance cover 16km so far. Half way to go.

Roller coaster ? Yeah, the pain climbing up the Dragon back pay off by riding down the roller coaster. I've managed to achieve 58.9km/h the fastest for the bike and I. Roller coaster is not about going down all the way, there are couple moderate climbs which is consider more than easy for me, but still I'm on the bike. But this time, snaking technic required. Assembly point 2, before we get down to Jalan Paip.

I took the front position here to be with the lead group. The downhill was smooth and fast and I took the corner to the right in style. But unfortunately, while climbing up at Kampung Idaman, the chain is stuck during shifting to the big crank. Ouch!! Have to give way to other cyclists while I'm trying to lose it on the ride. It lose and i'm back, but my position drop to the middle of the pack.

The route continue with moderate climb of Tembok China 1. A trail along Fairy Tale Park, the Chinese Cemetery. Turn left to Jalan Cempaka and right to Jalan Kenanga and another left to Jalan Kenangan into the cemetery area. Assembly point 3. Most bikers has exhausted. They need more than plain water. I myself dehydrated. Thanks God, the Marshall arrived later with bananas. What ? Bananas !!! Half loaf is better than none.

Last climb of the trail, Tembok China 2, the viewable peak. From the top you could see UiTM Puncak Alam, Shah Alam, Meru town and Klang. This time I've to retreat, after 50 meters climb I've surrender, unable to push the paddle up anymore. I've push the bike, twice here!!! Huh. Get down the hill and headed to off Jalan Paip for last assembly point before ride back to the finish point.

Skip few scheduled routes, the ride just straight to Jalan Meru and turn right to Jalan Haji Salleh. Last right turn to Jalan Haji Abdul Manan 1, I've push harder to the finish line. Cut off few tired bikers. Turn left at Persiaran Hamzah Alang and headed toward Padang Awam Meru 4. End of route. My time, an hour and 58 minutes 14 seconds.

Enjoy ride, be safe.

Trail FRIM - Offroad 101

This is my first attempt to the FRIM. FRIM is a favourite spot for MTBikers, it has several tracks for bikers who dare to take the challenge. 600 hectors of untouched forest are put on hill landscape, heaven down hill and thrill uphill. It was raining the night before the ride. I has been warned that the trail would not be easy.

Sydin, his gf, and me take off sharp at 0900hrs. The first track is an uphill trail to the bottom of Steroid Hill. To the bottom of the hill didn't mean down hill, but an up hill climb. It was an easy climb for me for few hundred meters but the rest is, uhh .. Felt so heavy to paddle up and push me to used the light gears. But we managed to the point in 1 piece, yet.

Bottom of hill is the junction for us whether to climb the Steroid Hill or to follow another track that lead to Sungai Buloh which is end at the hospital. The Steriod Hill will be a 2km climbing uphill of 45 degree. While the Sg Buloh Trail is combination of moderate up and down but about 10km in distance. Quick election time and the vote was, 3 Sg. Buloh and 0 Steroid Hill.

But we didn't complete the 10km to Sg Buloh, just a quater of it and we decide to turning back. The down hill was fun and thrill. In this situation safety come first. Combination of body balancing, front and rear brake control are definitely a must skill to have and to master. We completed the ride in an hour.

Enjoy ride, be safe.

Trail Kota Raja > Kampung Kuantan

View Trail Kota Raja > Kampung Kuantan in a larger map

Distance 24.35km

Saturday, the only day I could start early. Early start means longer time and longer route to be ride. I'm straight away to Bukit Jati to conquer the hill and get down to Jalan Raja Zainal. Across the river to the North Klang via Jalan Dato Mohd Sidin. This route is busy with long traffic and it took almost 5 minutes of mine to cross over. Ride along the road to Jalan Landasan, the first junction on the left after the short bridge.

Keep moving toward till the X junction and take right headed to Jalan Batu Tiga Lama. This is the origin route that link Klang and Kuala Lumpur long time ago, before Lebuhraya Persekutuan (Federal Highway). Ride to Klang town via this historical route. It was side by side with Persiaran Tengku Ibrahim.

After CTKK Used Car turn left into Jalan Haji Hampas and another left back to X junction via Jalan Landasan (the other end). I'm now in Bukit Kuda area, next to Kampung Kuantan. At the X junction take right to Jalan Bukit Kuda which is crossing along Kampung Kuantan. There is one special place in Kampung Kuantan, Claypot Asam Pedas. A kampung stall with specialised in asam pedas. My favourite, asam pedas pari (stingray).

Jalan Bukit Kuda will lead to Klang town and off at Jalan Batu Tiga. Then straight to Jambatan Kota, cross over to Pengkalan Batu and ride headed to Taman Diraja and after that Taman Rakyat Klang, Andalas. From there I used to follow usual route back to Jalan Demang 6 via Lorong Raja Jumaat 8 & 3 and Lorong Azmi till Lorong Pak Mahad.

Enjoy ride, be safe.

Slow week and new trail

View New trail survey in a larger map

I was slow last week .. just gone 28.9km for 3 days cycling only at the evening. Feels so bad about that and need serious thought of reschedule the ride times.  What option I have here ? .. Nite ride or morning ride on my regular trail. Else, look out another trails for evening ride and start early.

The above map is not absolutely a new trail. It was done on one evening while I was shorten of time to complete Bukit Jati Trail. So I ride down into the villages next to KTMB railway, both sided. Paddle slowly, ring the kids played in the middle of the road and waives the elder at their garden.

Enjoy ride, be safe.

Ultimate Kota Raja Trail

Trail Kota Raja > Pengkalan Batu > Taman Diraja > Taman Rakyat > Bukit Jati

Wake up this morning and feel so energetic. A little bit eager to start this day with 30km ride around Klang. After a quick warm up, I paddled up to Taman Pengkalan Batu. Sunday morning traffic is low, almost none. People still lazy themselves on the bed after partying last nite. Maybe.

From Taman Pengkalan Batu then I ride to the Taman Diraja Klang and to the Taman Rakyat Klang, Andalas. While traffic is low at the town, here is different story in Taman Rakyat Klang. The jungle trail is full with joggers and walkers. And I'm feel not welcoming to ride here. Need to skip this next time and re-route the trail.

Back then, I ride straight to Bukit Jati via Lorong Raja Jumaat 8 and 3 to Lorong Azmi. And to Jalan Bukit Jati 6 till TNB quarters area. Pushing hard all the way, because I try to finish with in an hour before the sun getting higher. Arriving at Bukit Jati, sound and safe and no monkeys. Like people they still lazying on the bed, definitely branches on the tree.

Get down from the hill with max 43.1km/h and reached Jalan Demang 6 at 1 hour 13 minutes and 03 seconds. The distance cover only 19.73km, I've short another 10km as targeted 30km this trail route.

Trail Kota Raja > Pengkalan Batu

View Trail Kota Raja > Pengkalan Batu in a larger map

Distance 13.3km

Tired of being chased by monkeys of Bukit Jati every time cycling up the hill, I've change last evening trail headed to the town. The destination, Taman Pengkalan Batu.  The park located beside the Sungai Klang and about 5.3 acre along the river. This park was equipped with fishing deck, gazebo, walking path, playground and a square for recreational.

As usual I'll use Lorong Azmi as a warming up runway till main road Jalan Kota Raja and turn right to the town. Then turn left at Jalan Dato Hamzah passing Sekolah Kebangsaan Klang, TM and Pejabat Agama and turn into Jalan Stesen till t-junction. The junction is exactly in front of KTM Kommuter Klang which right will take you back to Jalan Kota Raja and left will lead you to Jalan Tengku Kelana (Jambatan Tengku Kelana). Take left.

On Jambatan Tengku Kelana there is an exit point for pedestrian and cyclist to get down to the Taman Pengkalan Batu. As first timer I wonder what would KTM workshop look like. I took a short tour into the area and turn back to the Taman Pengkalan Batu.  At the park, follow the path along the river till the end. It will take you pass the fishing decks and gazebos. You can continue with Jalan Lembaga Bandaran but I choose to return back to the square.

There is a historical monument in that area. 1961 Jambatan Kota Klang, the double decked bridge. The bridge was used between 1960's to 1990's. Currently still being used by pedestrian and cyclist as a short cut that link Klang Utara and Klang Selatan. Make the historical cross and come back to the park. Next destination ?

While all the ride to the park only took 20 minutes, I've decided to add another spot in this trail. Which is Taman Diraja Klang located next to Istana Alam Shah and Little India of Klang. This ride took a mild climbing, the road is kindof  narrow. So, ride on pedestrian path along Jalan Istana. The road will pass the Royal Klang Club, lead you till the palace and one round to the top of the hill. The whole hill is the royal park. Get down from the hill and take left into Jalan Limau , another left into Jalan Raja Jumaat until reaching Jalan Kota Raja.

At the Jalan Kota Raja, take left to the town and turn right into Lorong Azmi to get back to Jalan Demang 6. It took about an hour for easy ride to complete. End of route.

Next trail. Have you ever been to Taman Rakyat Klang, Andalas ?
