Jamboree > Kuala Linggi Melaka 2010

I was invited by a friend to Jamboree Kuala Linggi while rest under an oil palm tree during jamboree in Bernam Jaya last week. Could considered that, because Rotor X and I were unable to ride in Penang for Kayuh Lasak 2010. They are on the same day, and advantage to Kuala Linggi for distance and popularity ranking.

Back to Klang, I've gathered Bro Farid, Bro Wahid and Wak Rusni to ride along in Kuala Linggi. Bro Farid immediately agreed, so do Wak Rosni but unfortunately Bro Wahid couldn't join us.

Saturday Dec 11

As planned the trip to Kuala Linggi take off after Zohor on Saturday. Since the distance to Kuala Linggi only about 2 hours we re lazily drive and enjoy the evening view along the way. Stop at Port Dickson for coffee break for half an hour. We continued the journey to KUIM for registration and goodies collection.

Accommodation had been arranged at Bro Tommy's house in Pengkalan Balak. A kampung house with private beach. Awesome and thank you very much. Really appreciate it.

Sunday Dec 12

Early in the morning we had check out and get ready at the KUIM. Reassemble and tune the bikes, warming up and having a very light breakfast before the ride. Then suddenly a car park in next to our van. Annuar Manan came out. Wow, now we have an immediate result for todays jamboree. On my last check he is not in the participant list and total are only 465 riders. When I check back this morning at the registration counter, the list sky up to 700 participants. Not bad, in the middle of big event in Penang and Johor,Kuala Linggi had put his remark. Well done.

First phase on the trail are considered easy with 10km tarmac and 10km offroad. But there were spaces for organizer to improve on safety aspect, especially while riders are on the road. They should put crews on every junctions to block other traffickers entering the main road. It is only 10km and could estimate around 15 minutes for riders to clear from starting point to last junction before entering the offroad trail.

Offroad segment of the jamboree are cover with palm oil plantation, rubber estate, single trail, bushes area and open field. Every of them give their own challenge for riders to pass thru, averagely ridable. The highest point of the ride is Bukit Kembar 3 Beradik peak. When there is climb, there must be downhill. Sad to say, the downhill in this jamboree rated 2 out of 5 from my personal rating. In terms of height, length and subject difficulty. I just ask for sufficient length of downhill, compare to the climb that riders had did. 

Another high climb is Bukit Tangki near the beach of Pengkalan Balak. It serve the view of Malacca Straight and it surrounding area from top. Hence it was almost midday, I don't spend too long here. Rush down to the next water station via most vertical downhill. At last .. Thanks

I've complete the jamboree with full stickers. No long lost or chicken loop along the way, no cramp, and no big accident. Thank's God. But I took almost 3 riding hours for 50km in distance. It was enjoy and ridable and gave a unique lesson.

Jamboree > Kayuhan Gerbang Utara Selangor 2010

Jamboree Bernam Jaya 2010 was suggested by Bro Wahid of Rotor X. He and I was pre-registered about months before the event. We have booked 40 and 41 as our plate number.  Just waiting time for organizer to officially open the registration and confirm the event date and entry fee. As the time passed by, we have forgot about this ride. Until a day when I've received a call from Chief Khalid.

Trail Kemensah

Bro Farid and I was on assignment to scout potential trails for our next project. We have planned 2 rides today. Offroad in the morning and road in the evening. There were 2 options for us to offroad, Kemensah, Hulu Klang or FRIM, Kepong. But we decide to try Kemensah, as it is totally fresh for both of us. While the road session had been confirmed as tour around in the city of Kuala Lumpur. With objective to overview and get some snapshots, we headed to Kuala Lumpur early this morning.

Arrived at Kpg Kemensah around 8 am, we have joined Mejar Fauzi and his son together with other riders from ET as to name Jai Downhill, Jut Usman, Azrul Merida and Najib Ashburn. After short ice breaking, breakfast and brief, we start our ride of Trail Kemensah. The ride destination, Bukit Sofea where the Air Terjun Kubang Gajah located. Sound refreshing, and absolute motivation along the trail.

Trail Bukit Kapar

Received a SMS from Wak Rosni on Thursday about the Meru FunRace. The race track would be around 20km plus minus of road and offroad. Overall cross-country trail thru Kampung Bukit Kapar. Rideable and totally fun (minus) race.

Since we don't have any new trail to ride, this sound reasonable. No registration fee include, just sumbangan ikhlas to get plate number. Medals for top ten cyclists and lucky draw waiting at the finishing point. This must be fun, really.

Jamboree > Kayuhan Kuale Bandar DiRaja 2010

Saturday October 30 

It’s been a long break since fasting month and a month of raya after that, then later continue with another month of kenduri-kendara of my relatives and friends .. The Tahoe completely left inside the back room .. The cat eye turn to sleep mode since when, I don’t know .. There were couple times I’m out for warming up to Klang and Port Klang .. But that was far away than so call training when Jamboree Kuale is around the corner ..

Few days before the jamboree I bought the bike to Lan’s Bike Shop to do some minor adjustments .. The cassette was out during Nibong Tebal Jamboree and one of the wheels was slice badly. Both cases need immediate attention if I wanna ride in peace of mind state ..

On the early plan, there were supposed to be 4 of Rotor X usual suspects. Wak Rosni, Bro Wahid, Bro Farid and me. At the end Bro Farid had to cancel his participation due to some personal matters .. And left 3 of us wondering how we gonna go to Kuala Kangsar. Bro Farid was the person who arrange transportation .. So, I’ve to carry out this logistic part ..

As promised I’ve pick up Bro Wahid at 2pm and Wak Rosni after that. The KayuhBeb Geng had invited us to join their convoy to Kuala Kangsar via PLUS Highway. But I have better idea and route to follow, the costal road from Klang to Teluk Intan. So the journey begin. 

Saturday October 31

First 10km is on road all the way to Kati. I took this opportunity to warming up and get use to the gears and bike. Group by group had cut over me along the way. I'll keep maintaining the speed and state of my ride. No.1 is not mine and them. What is more important to me is to climb steady, downhill smoothly and ride to finish line safe and sound.

After this point I'm split from Wak Rosni as both my legs had been attack with cramp due to dehydration .. I'm slowing down, try to balance from the deed and need and limit of both legs .. I don't want to be stranded alone in the middle of nowhere waiting for rescue to pick me out. I wanna climb all the hills, jump all the ramps and enjoy every downhills the trail has serves. I know that I'm mentally prepared and my competition spirit at the highest level. Even though I was lack of training sessions for this jamboree but inside me,  I believed, I could push my body to the limit if not beyond.

The journey back was another story of berpoye-poye. Drive lazily to Klang via PLUS. We were in and out the local town along the way. Stop at Tapah for prayer and dinner. We headed to Sungkai via Federation Route. Since every one of us has suffered the muscle pain and cramp, we decided to stop at Hulu Tamu for natural hot bath. It is good for detoxing hence relaxing the mind. At least it would prevent the cramp tonight while we sleep and ease the muscle pain next morning. The 3 hours drive supposed had drag to 6 hours. We finally arrived Klang at 2 am early in the morning.  

After all, we have enjoy every moment we had this 2 days.
